Notes: His place of origin is variously given in the Dömitz church records as “Dehmen bei Strahlsund” (~ daughter Maria Charlotta Elisabeth 1809), “Dehmen/Dehmern beÿ Stralsund” (⚭1809), “b. Stralsund” (~ son Johann Friedrich Ludwig 1816), or just Stralsund (⚭1814, ✝︎1817). This place is not Demern, as Demern is not near Stralsund, and no Giercke of any spelling appears in the Ortsfamilienbuch Demern and no matching individuals in the Gesamtfamilienbuch Fürstentum Ratzeburg. Dehmen could refer to the Dämme near Stralsund, the banks or levees like the Tribseer Damm. Stralsund could also stand for the entire province of Swedish Pomerania, then under the Swedish Crown, of which it was the capital. In this case, “Dehme[r]n” could be Demmin (on the border just outside Swedish Pomerania), Dänholm (an island part of Stralsund), or Devin. He could also be from Dümmer(n) Amt Wittenburg (now Amt Stralendorf), which is listed as the place of origin of Maria Hedewig Engel, the wife of the traveling brickmaker’s apprentice Johann Gierke, who died in Wendisch Wehningen while on travel on 21 Mar 1808. But no matching Gierke births could be found in the church records of Parum.
Perhaps most likely, however, is that "Dehmen" is really "Dämmen", i.e., the levees or embankments by Stralsund. This matches the record of the man, a sailor who lived in the Frankenvorstadt district of Stralsund, who could be his father. These Dämmen are mentioned in Otto Francke's book "Aus Stralsunds Franzosenzeit" on page 7.
