Notes:
Windmiller and church elder in Prezelle, he came from Kaulitz, though may not have been born there. He took over the mill (Bockwindmühle) in Prezelle about 1665 after the death without heirs of the previous miller Michael Pardemann. The lease was renewed in 1694 at twice the rent. He served as baptismal sponsor for Jochim Hinrich Schwenger in Trebel on 11 Jan 1702. Jochim died of consumption and, doubtless, liquor ("Schwindsucht procul dubio Brandewein").

The Gartzmann clan is one of the old families of the Altmark. The village of Gartz is the source of the surname. The Gartzmann family remained millers in Prezelle until at least 1932, retaining possession of the mill continuously with the exception of a brief period from 1765 to 1771.

WENDAKB gives his second marriage date as 29. 4. 1701.
